MWHL Cup Finals 2017

Final Matchup

The Arizona Outlaws and Vail Yeti will meet in the 2017 MWHL Cup Finals presented by Allegiant. The best of three game series will be held at Sobe Arena in Las Vegas on April 28-30.

This will be the first MWHL Cup Finals appearance by the Outlaws, who finished second in the league overall this year behind NorCal. The Yeti won the MWHL Cup in 2014, completing a season during which they finished with the league’s best record. Vail tied Arizona in wins, points, and points percentage this year, but were edged in the overall standings based on a head-to-head regular season loss to the Outlaws and goal differential.

Arizona is led by a high scoring attack featuring the league’s top two points scorers Justin Havriliak and Dom Panetta, backed by the punching power of captain Justin Miller. The Yeti feature the league’s top goal scorer Justin Elmore and a strong defense led by Andy Canzanello on the blue line and Spencer Gold in goal.

How They Got There

Vail rebounded the following night in Breckenridge with a 7-1 win. The Yeti closed the series by winning at home, punching their ticket to the championship series with a 9-2 victory.

The Arizona Outlaws swept NorCal Ice Raiders in the MWHL Sierra Division playoff. The Outlaws took game one at NorCal by a score of 4-3. They closed out the series in game 2 by defeating the MWHL Regular Season Champion Ice Raiders 6-4.
